Dance Photography: Erica
"Dance first. Think later. It's the natural order."
Last weekend I got to shoot with Erica, who dances for Orchesis, Cal Poly's dance company. I absolutely love photographing dancers. Their bodies tell stories in the way that they hold themselves and express beauty through movement.
Towards the end of our shoot, we played around with flour. Always a mess, but always so much fun.
I'm learning to love shadows and darkness in my photos. There's so much depth in contrast, something largely different from clean spotless white background stock photos. No human subject should be photographed like a dull product. Also, looking at these shots makes me want to print them at full scale. Am I allowed to plot photos??
