Double Exposed
Double exposures have always fascinated me. After years of tinkering with them on Photoshop, I thought actually shooting them on film, the way they were intended to be created, would be more authentic. I decided to shoot portraits, and incorporate nature and other settings as stylistic compositions that fill in the silhouettes. I wanted the curve of the hand and faces to be appear as a natural and inherent frame.
These photos were shot with a Nikon F100 on Kodak T-Max 400 black and white film, and developed and printed by me in Cal Poly's photo studio darkroom. The smell of developer and fixer lingering in my fingernails takes me back to my middle school days, where I first learned to use a darkroom in my yearbook/photography/newspaper class. Ah, the good old days.
I'm looking forward to experimenting more with film. It's so different from digital, and sometimes that's the break I need.
